Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Melanie Breitman is now based in Frazier Park, California.
An artist since childhood, Melanie always followed her passion of the arts. Her background in Fine Arts, with a specialization in Sculpture and Art History, and her decades-long professional experience in the art world, served as a foundation in the creation of Artwood Handmade Furniture.
It wasn't until fall of 2020, during the pandemic, that Melanie reassessed her priorities and left her life in New York, towards the West, without a plan for the future other than being close to her twin sister Dalila. With all the time and possibilities at her fingertips, and with the support of her incredible family and friends, she started this adventurous journey into woodworking and furniture making.
In early 2021, Melanie discovered Frazier Park, a small town cradled between the mountains of Los Padres Nation Forest. She was instantly attracted to the peaceful nature and decided to settle down there.
She is inspired daily by the beautiful woodsy surroundings to create pieces that are rustic yet modern with functional and simple Scandinavian and Mid-Century Modern influenced designs. Her craft is always improving and evolving, and she enjoys working with clients to create commissioned pieces that will live in families for generations to come.
